5-minute Auto Shut Off timer

5-minute Auto Shut Off timer

The Auto Shut Off Timer value is the amount of time you can be away from the cooking area before the iGuard will shut off the stove automatically. The default from the factory is 5 minutes. You can adjust it anywhere between 1 to 5 minutes. Please keep in mind that a lot can happen when your cooking is unattended, even for even 5 minutes, so keep the time shorter rather than longer. Once this is set you won’t need to adjust it.

Auto Resume:  (Electric stoves only) When you leave the kitchen and the iGuard shuts off the power to the stove, when you return and the iGuard sees you, it will automatically restore power to the elements. (See Child Safe to disable the Auto Resume feature)

This Auto Resume feature will only work for only 15 minutes after the iGuard shuts off the stove.  If you return outside that 15-minute window you will be required to press the Stove button on the right to resume cooking. See image below.

NOTE: If someone leaves the kitchen for more than 15 minutes, and the Auto-Resume feature has disabled itself, the iGuard will periodically check to see if someone has turned the stove knob off and if it has been determined that the knobs are off, then the iGuard will go back to standby/off. In order to start cooking again you will not be required to press the flashing stove button to turn the stove back on.  You just use the stove knob as you normally do to start cooking.

NOTE: When you first turn on your electric stove, your iGuard senses the flow of power and wakes up to start protecting and it immediately records that time.  However, when the stove is turned off, there is a 4-minute delay before for the iGuard records that the stove is off.  The 5-minute delay is to determine that the stove is actually turned off and that it isn’t just the elements cycling on and off.

The “Show Countdown” option in the app allows the countdown timer to show on the screen. You can show the timer initially to get used to where the motion sensor can and can’t see you by watching for the timer to reset. Once you get to know your iGuard you can hide the timer for a cleaner look.
