The Extended Cooking Timer prevents the motion sensor from shutting off the stove after 5 minutes of absence thereby allowing both the oven and stovetop to be used uninterrupted for longer cooking times.
To activate the Extended Cooking Timer, turn on the stovetop or oven, which will wake up the iGuard, and the Auto Protect badge and the greyed-out Timer button will appear. (Image #1)
Press the greyed-out TIMER button and the clock timer will appear. Using the -/+ buttons, set the length of time you want the appliance to operate unattended and uninterrupted. (image #2). (You will notice that the green Auto Protect badge disappears and that because this feature has NO auto shut off safety so be careful how it is used.)
The Colon will start to flash indicating that it is counting down.
After the Extend Cooking period times out the motion sensor and 5-minute countdown timer will automatically re-engage. (Image #3). If you are in the kitchen, and the motion sensor sees you, the 5-minute countdown timer will keep resetting to 5 minutes. If you are not in the kitchen at that time, then the countdown timer will zero out and power to the appliance will be shut off.
You can also lock out the use of the Extended Cooking timer so you can prevent its unauthorized use. As mentioned there is NO auto shut off safety while using this feature so if you realize it is something you don't want your family members to have access to you can lock it out using the app.
