Can I use an induction stove with the iGuard?

We have found that a small number of induction cooktops are compatible with the iGuard, but unfortunately, most are not. Induction ranges and stoves use more complex power and control circuitry than conventional electric ranges, and some models do not respond properly when the iGuard interrupts power as part of its safety operation. For this reason, we generally do not recommend using the iGuard with an induction stove.

It is also important to understand that while induction cooking offers some safety advantages, it does not eliminate the risk of a cooking fire. Induction technology can reduce the risk of burns associated with exposed, extremely hot heating elements, but food, cooking oils, pans and other materials can still reach temperatures capable of starting a fire.

The primary risk the iGuard is designed to address is unattended or forgotten cooking—not accidental contact with a hot element. Unattended cooking remains one of the leading causes of residential cooking fires.

For someone specifically concerned about a family member forgetting that they are cooking or leaving the stove unattended, we generally recommend a compatible conventional electric range paired with the iGuard rather than relying on induction technology alone for cooking safety.
